IPA Night At Snapper

Published

on

It’s All About The Hops Baby!

To celebrate World Beer Day on Friday 2nd August, and in association with Beervana International, there will be a two IPA events at Snapper on Sukhumvit Soi 8.

All IPA’s on the 2 dates will be sold at very special prices, with fantastic IPA’s starting from only 120 baht.

– Thursday 1st August (for those who can’t wait for Friday!), and
– Friday 2nd August

In the past 10 years or more, IPA beers have risen to almost cult status – so Snapper decided it’s time that IPA was given a night of it’s own.

For the uninitiated, IPA is a type of beer known as India Pale Ale. It was created by the British and became popular among East India Company traders in the late 18th century. What distinguishes this style is the relatively high alcohol content and the strong hops. It is thought that the original intention was preservation – i.e. higher alcohol and hop content make the beer less prone to spoilage on the long boat ride around Africa to India.

While the British may get credit for inventing the IPA, the style has been refined and transformed – and damn – near close to perfected – across all parts of the world, with many small craft breweries popping up in almost every country producing IPA’s of different styles and strengths.

For the 2 evening event, there will be a selection of IPA’s available from Australia, America and, of course, New Zealand.

IPA NIGHT

Some of the beers to be included are:

FUNK ESTATE – NZ
SOPHISTICUFFS IPA
ABV: 6%
The result of ongoing flirtations between an aggressively fierce serving of Kiwi hops and a solid, distinguished malt character is this love child. Sophisticuffs. As the names suggests is beautiful, bold, balanced and banging with flavour!

PIRATE LIFE – AUS
MOSAIC IPA
7%
This beer is pretty straight forward: using a simple malt bill and let the Mosaic hops do the talking. The resulting beer is as the name implies; a kaleidoscopic journey through tropical flavours. Somehow, Mosaic finds a way to impart every delicious flavour you ask of hops, all on its own. Backed by a clean, light malt bill it’s the beer equivalent of a fruit punch juice box – This is an amazing beer and worth a visit to the event alone!

MOTHER EARTH – USA
BOO KOO MOSAIC IPA
6.5%
Mother Earth’s most popular IPA stands out as one of the finest examples of a West Coast style beer: Bursting with flavour and aroma, finished dry, and most importantly hop-forward. This beer is teeming with fruit and pine notes, and its light gold to blonde color make it drink like a session beer.

LORD HOBO – USA
ANGELICA HAZY IPA
5.5%
A New England take on a classic beer style, Angelica offers the refreshing drinkability of a wheat beer combined with fruit juice characteristics and elegant haze.

LORD HOBO – USA
HOBO LIFE SESSION IPA
4.5%
Hobo Life Session IPA is heavily dry-hopped with Citra and rests on 20% flaked oats. Refreshing and bright with notes of lime and grapefruit zest to entertain the palate, Hobo Life is a go-to for any session.

To make a reservation please call Snapper during opening hours on 02 033 2844

Cheap Drinks At The Red Lion

Cheap Drinks At The Red Lion

The Red Lion, located under the Trendy Building on Sukhumvit Soi 13, is the newest British pub on lower Sukhumvit.

It opened at the weekend with some of the cheapest drink prices I’ve seen in the area.

A pint of Singha or Tiger is only 79 baht with Heineken and Asahi just 89 baht. Guinness will set you back 169 baht for a pint.

Bottled beers start at 65 baht for a Leo with all the other local beers either 70 or 75 baht a pop.

These prices aren’t for Happy Hour or any other promo, instead, they are from open to close 7 days a week.

Food starts on Tuesday with prices for all the popular dishes as competitive as the pricing of the drinks.

There are plenty of TVs for you to catch live sports as you enjoy a cheap bevvy and a bite to eat too.
