It’s been a long six months for everyone in the bar business in Bangkok and beyond with no sign of anything changing anytime soon I’m sad to say but it’s not all doom and gloom.
Traditional pubs and bars by all accounts seem to be fairing not too badly with only expats and anyone claiming to be “stuck” here to keep things turning over as the country waits to reopen the borders and allow tourists back.
It’s also a decent people-watching spot on the Neon Alley where you can sit back and sup without bargirls bugging you for a drink.
Some special offers have been lined up including 89 baht pints of Heineken, Tiger, Chang, Asahi and Federbrau plus Guinness at 190b and Magners only 160b a pint for BKK Funcard holders.
BKK Funcards are FREE, just ask a member of staff to sort you out with one.
The kitchen will be open throughout serving up all the usual pub grub favourites from opening at 3pm until “late”.
O’Shea’s Are Open Again
O’Shea’s Irish Pub on Sukhumvit 33/1 are open for food and non-alcoholic drinks once again daily from 9am to 9pm.
While no booze might not be ideal, it gets you out the house for a bit as there is nothing worse than being caged up all day and night plus there’s always something to see on the soi too.
If you are thinking no beer, no point that’s okay, you can order from the food menu for delivery through their Facebook page, by phone (095 795 1841), LINE and LINEMAN so you can pop a few tinnies at home while you feast on some grub.
Home delivery available daily from 9am to 9pm.
Soi 22 Blast from The Past
Here’s a walk down Sukhumvit Soi 22 memory lane for some who might remember Ray’s place Twenty Two Bar.
It relocated here from Sukhumvit Road and was a popular hangout for Scots in Bangkok.
I remember sinking a shandy or two here with my old mate TommyTrueBlue back in the day.
Above Eleven Closed Until Further Notice
With fewer and fewer people out and about plus more and more restrictions at national and provincial levels coming into effect, notices from businesses taking the decision to temporarily close just keep on coming thick and fast.
The latest place to take this tough decision is Above Eleven who published the following statement today.
Dear Above Eleven Guests,
We have made the difficult decision to temporarily close Above Eleven until further notice.
As the COVID-19 situation heightens, we believe this decision is in the best interest of our staff, guests, and the public at large. It truly saddens us that we’re unable to serve you at our venue and we cannot wait to invite you back to Above Eleven soon.
In the meantime, we hope you and your family stay safe! 💚
Above Eleven Team
Hopefully, Above Eleven and everyone else choosing to close at this stage will be back before we know it.
