Black Canyon Introduce Robot Waitress Service

Black Canyon Introduce Robot Waitress Service

A Black Canyon coffee shop in Bangkok has introduced the ‘Pudubot’ – a robot waitress – to serve drinks to customers.

The device cuts costs and limits contact between staff and customers, which could prevent transmission of Covid-19.

It also improves efficiency and hygiene, according to Prawit Chitnarapong, who runs the chain of shops.

Footage shows how customers order at the counter before taking a seat at a table. Staff then load meals and drinks onto the shelves of the robot before keying in the table number.

The Pudobot is programmed to travel to each number table and has sensors to avoid bashing into customers.

Staff and customers have been so impressed with the robot waitress that managers now plan to use them to receive orders, accept payments, collect the orders and deliver them to the correct customers.

Chief Executive, Prawit, said the Pudubot could revolutionise the coffee shop industry by improving efficiency.

He said: ”In the future, there will be an increase in efficiency, with the robot able to take orders and also accept payments.

”Importantly, we don’t want the use of robots to replace the workforce, but to increase work efficiency, especially in the new age of life where we need to maintain social distancing when a large number of customers are entering the store.”

A Smashing Sunday Roast At The Kiwi

Published

After scoring Scruffy Murphy’s Sunday Roast with a 9/10 Mick the manager at The Kiwi told me I MUST come in one Sunday and sample the roast lamb telling me it would knock my socks off, so a couple of weeks back that’s just what I did.

I went with Mick’s recommendation and ordered the lamb that comes in at 419 baht which includes a soft drink, or a bottle of beer or a glass of wine.

A bowl of soup arrives and I’m thinking, I didn’t order a soup starter but it’s all part of the price, so the lovely young lady serving me said. Nice one.

Now, my best guess was it was Pumpkin Soup but don’t hold me to that as I ate it so quick it didn’t touch the sides and I’m sure they mix it up week by week.

Once the soup was done with it was on to the main course. It arrived piping hot which will always score extra points with Stick as I like my grub roasting, pardon the pun.

Damn it was delicious.

Mick was definitely not pulling my chain when he said it was the business. I could have eaten a plate of just the cauliflower cheese alone never mind the rest of it.

I didn’t do any extras this time around as I was stuffed after the soup and main.

Fat Face opted for the Phad Thai and it got the thumbs up with not a crumb left on her plate.

Other options on the menu include a half chicken or pork roast for 299 baht or there’s beef priced at 349 baht, and just the same as the lamb, you get a drink of your choice with each.

It is certainly value for money and a decent feed in my book.

Note, this is not a sponsored post, and as always I paid my bill. Yes, I’m mates with Mick the manager, but finding a bar where I’m not on friendly terms with either the staff, manager, owner or all 3 is a rarity around Sukhumvit.
