I had to catch up with an old friend for lunch and he suggested Monsoon on Sukhumvit Soi 8 – perfect. It’s close to the BTS, the food is good, it’s relaxing and it doesn’t break the bank. The ideal place to meet and eat.
Even at 12pm on a Monday there were a few tables on the outside terrace already taken which is a good sign.
The menu is varied and reasonably priced with us opting for a mix of Thai and European with soft drinks and a couple of coffees. There was change out of 1000 baht which we left as a tip for the smiling, courteous and efficient staff.
Now I’m no food critic and won’t even attempt to go into details as all I want to do here is share a good eating house with you. Monsoon has good grub, good service, good pricing and a good location. What’s more to say other than go check it out for yourself.

7-Eleven Selling Soft Serve Ice Cream
Who doesn’t enjoy a soft serve ice cream cone or tub of smooth silky goodness?
Soft serve ice cream isn’t very popular in Thailand and pretty hard to come by but things may be about to change after a trial run at a 7-Eleven branch in Hua Hin was an overwhelming success on the first day.
Locals were so keen to try the cones that they queued out the door until the store ran out of stock.
Will it be rolling out across the country? Who knows, you’ll just need to keep your eyes peeled.
