The Strip Calling It A Day

Published on 15th March 2019 by Stickboy BKK

After 11 years of ups and downs, the owners of The Strip in Patpong are calling time on the once popular house of fun at the end of this month.

When you walk past and see the lights out on April 1st, it won’t be a prank or another alcohol-free day in Thailand but the end for what was once one of Bangkok’s best known, and much loved go-go bars.

In the past few years The Strip has been run by various operators, some experienced, some not but few could make the bar work or profitable with only one combo managing to pull it off only to walk away for reasons unknown to me.

The leaseholder recently took back control of the bar and I’m sorry to say it has died a slow death with just a handful of girls most nights and fewer customers.

A 3-day farewell party is planned with details coming soon which I will share when they land. As for the future? At this stage the owners are undecided so it is a case of wait and see.

This news comes at the same time as another once packed Patpong chrome pole palace bids us farewell as Bada Bing switch off the lights for the last time this month too… maybe even as soon as this weekend, although the final decision has yet to be made at the time of me writing this on Friday afternoon despite what some barstool experts are saying online.

Sad times for Patpong indeed, however, as two long-running venues set to close, a new go-go bar is set to open in the location that was home to Radio City.

Details on that coming soon.
