About the Event
BANGSTOCK is a one-day charity music festival being held in support of the BCTFN. This longstanding charitable organization raises all its funds to support charitable projects around Thailand at the annual Ploenchit Fair, run for decades with an army of some 2,000 volunteers and the sponsorship of many private and public companies, businesses and the British Embassy. However, the cancellation of this year’s Ploenchit Fair has left a gap in Bangkok’s live music calendar as well as creating a shortfall in the charitable contributions made annually by the to the many charities in Thailand that it supports.
The organizing committee – an eclectic group of volunteer do-gooders – has stepped forward to organize a fun event for their fellow Bangkokians with the net proceeds from the event being donated to the BCTFN to enable them to continue doing their good work.
Shenanigans Irish Pub will host the events and will be making their authentic Irish fare available at Happy Hour prices all day, with a percentage of sales being added to the overall donation.
Eight local bands are donating their time and considerable talents. Most are familiar to residents and will be playing a wide range of rock, blues and pop. During the breaks a UK DJ, stand-up comedians, and other special guests will appear onstage, making for a whole day of non-stop entertainment.
A raffle for some fantastic prizes will be held and a limited number of BANGSTOCK t-shirts will be available for sale – look for them to become a collector’s item.

THE CHARITY – British Charities in Thailand for the Needy (BCTFN)
The BCTFN has been supporting Thai charities since 1957 when it was operating as the United Kingdom Committee for Thai Charities. In 2000 this became an official Thai Foundation as the British Community in Thailand Foundation for the Needy. Since that time, over 70 million baht has been allocated to projects throughout Thailand with preference give to self-help projects, agricultural, educational and medical projects that benefit whole communities.
The BCTFN disburses funds to a wide range of projects. Since the year 2000 alone, the Fair has raised over 60 million baht which has benefited a diverse range of organizations. In recent years, priority has been given to self-help projects that benefit and enable a community to become self-sustaining. Assistance has also been given in the provision of basic necessities and equipment to improve healthcare, nutrition, education, agricultural projects and the disabled throughout Thailand Donations are never made in cash. Once a project is approved, building plans, estimates and invoices etc will be met by the BCTFN and payment made directly to contractors and suppliers.
Details of projects are on the BCTFN’s websites: www.bctfn.org and www.ploenchitfair.org

ZippBike Beverage Deliveries Are Back
Here is some good news to end the year… booze deliveries from ZippBike are back.
After the government banned online alcohol sales and the purchase of booze using an electronic device it put paid to what had become a popular service from ZippBike – rapid beer deliveries around Bangkok.
A workaround has been found and all you have to do is logon to your account at zippbile.com – or create a new one – apply for a ZIppBike Business Account and boom, you’re in.
In fact, I think since writing this ALL accounts have now been automatically converted so even less to do and more reason to order the same great, speedy beer, wine & spirits delivery you remember.
