Players Championship Snooker 2015

The Players Championship Snooker 2015 tournament is being held in Bangkok for the first time at the Montien Riverside Hotel from 24-28th March.

The tournament is the culmination of the World Snooker calendar and features 32 of the top-ranked players from European and Asian whose high rankings entitle them to participate in the event.

Hosting the Players Championship in Bangkok is a first for Thailand, and is the first time the prestigious tournament has been staged outside of the United Kingdom and Ireland.

“Staging this tournament in Thailand is another highlight in the Thai sporting calendar,” said Organising Committee Chairman Suwat Liptapanlop. “Once again the eyes of the sporting world will be focussed on Thailand which deliver tremendous PR for the country.”

The Players Championship 2015 will feature a who’s who of the world’s best players including Joe Perry, Ding Junhui and Shaun Murphy and Mark Allen. Thailand’s own Thepchaiya Un-Nooh who currently stands at #4 on the Asian Order of Merit has also qualified for the tournament. Previous winners of the event are stars Shaun Murphy, Stephen Lee, China’s Ding Junhui and last year’s champion Barry Hawkins of England.

The Players Championship features a knockout format with all matches played best of seven frames. Matches will be played on two tables and ticket holders will be able to catch the action on both of the match tables. Total prize money for the event is £300,000 with the winner taking home £100,000

The tournament will be broadcast around the globe, attracting a television audience in the hundreds of millions. The event will be shown live on networks including Eurosport, British Eurosport, Beijing TV, Guangdong TV, Now TV Hong Kong and ONS in the Middle East.
