Bangstock Music Festival

Bangkokstock Music Festival

Bangstock is a one-day charity music festival with eight local bands donating their time and considerable talents.

The breaks between the bands will feature a UK DJ, stand-up comedians, and special guests. Great fun from noon-midnight.

Time & Location

12 Dec, 12:00 – 13 Dec, 00:00
Shenanigans Irish Pub, Surawong Road, Bang Rak, Bangkok

About the Event

BANGSTOCK is a one-day charity music festival being held in support of the BCTFN. This longstanding charitable organization raises all its funds to support charitable projects around Thailand at the annual Ploenchit Fair, run for decades with an army of some 2,000 volunteers and the sponsorship of many private and public companies, businesses and the British Embassy. However, the cancellation of this year’s Ploenchit Fair has left a gap in Bangkok’s live music calendar as well as creating a shortfall in the charitable contributions made annually by the to the many charities in Thailand that it supports.

The organizing committee – an eclectic group of volunteer do-gooders – has stepped forward to organize a fun event for their fellow Bangkokians with the net proceeds from the event being donated to the BCTFN to enable them to continue doing their good work.

Shenanigans Irish Pub will host the events and will be making their authentic Irish fare available at Happy Hour prices all day, with a percentage of sales being added to the overall donation.

Eight local bands are donating their time and considerable talents. Most are familiar to residents and will be playing a wide range of rock, blues and pop. During the breaks a UK DJ, stand-up comedians, and other special guests will appear onstage, making for a whole day of non-stop entertainment.

A raffle for some fantastic prizes will be held and a limited number of BANGSTOCK t-shirts will be available for sale – look for them to become a collector’s item.

The series, which is being directed by Kongkiat Komesiri, centres around the story of Wanchai, who moves to Bangkok to save his family from poverty. In a bid to find answers and serve justice, Wanchai joins a local ambulance foundation and, without warning, is pulled into the mysterious high-stakes world of the rescue services. Joining forces a determined female journalist, Wanchai embarks on a mission to unravel a city-wide conspiracy.

“Bangkok Breaking is a series that serves all tastes, with action, excitement, drama and romance, appealing to a wide audience across Asia and, I hope, internationally,” director Kongkiat Komesiri. “With the full support of Netflix we can realise our vision for this series; I am excited, honoured and incredibly proud to work with a global platform like Netflix. I’ve amassed over 20 years of experience in film making, collecting every technique for this moment, and today I have the opportunity to show that Thai content has what it takes to capture the interest of audiences around the world. I promise to give my absolute best to delight our audience.”

“I follow and enjoy many Netflix movies and series,” showrunner and executive producer Prabda Yoon said in a statement. “That’s why I am excited to work with Netflix directly, but what I’m most excited about is taking part in showcasing Thai talent and creativity on a global platform. The opportunity to work with so many skilled and experienced Thai people from the industry is really impressive; and Netflix partnering with Thai producers can only benefit our work and inspire the creative community.”

The action-thriller drama will be produced by Production Playground. Create Asia 360’s Rehan Malik and Clayton Fitts co-created the series and will executive produce.
