6 Die When Tailgating Driver Flips Tour Bus

Six people including an infant girl died when their tailgating bus driver crashed their coach in Pathum Thani early today.

Four unidentified women and a man were among the dead in the 3:20 a.m. wreck in Khlong Luang District. The sixth fatality was a baby less than six months old.

Another 50 people, including the driver, were injured and sent to a hospital.

Police determined that the Prayad Tour Co. bus was headed to Bangkok after leaving Roi-Et at 7 p.m. Saturday. Rain from the tail of tropical depression Pabuk was falling when the bus reached the Phahon Yothin Highway in Khlong Nueng Subdistrict.

The driver, driving too closely behind another vehicle, slammed on the brakes when that car slowed. He lost control of the coach, it flipped and landed upside down in a ditch.
