Minivan Plunges Into Kanchanaburi Canal

Eight Burmese migrant workers died and two others are missing after their van plunged into a Kanchanaburi canal.

The minivan headed back to Myanmar was hit by a 10-wheeled trucker just after noon Saturday at the Sa Setthi intersection in Tha Muang District.

Nearly 100 rescuers and volunteers responded to the scene, attempting to free the workers from the van as it sunk into a canal.

All were either confirmed or presumed to have drowned, including a pregnant woman.
