American Falls 17 Floors To His Death From Phuket Hotel

A 41-year-old American man fell 17 floors to his death from a Phuket hotel early on Saturday morning.

At around 4.45am emergency services were called to the Royal Paradise Hotel in Patong after the body of a foreigner was discovered by staff laid on the ground in the loading area.

Lt Col Weerapong Rakkhito from Kathu police station told reporters officers had checked the 17th floor room where the American, identified as Scott Timothy Conway, had been staying and there was nothing found to suspect robbery or foul play, leading investigators to believe the man took his own life.

Hotel staff told police the man had checked in several days earlier and had been alone in his room at the time he fell from the balcony.

The body was sent to Patong Hospital for autopsy and the American embassy in Bangkok informed.
