American Tourist Who Disappeared While Swimming In Surat Thani Found Dead

The American tourist who disappeared while swimming at a reservoir in Surat Thani on Friday has been found dead, according to local reports.

Jordan Scot, 30, was reported missing when he failed to surface after jumping into the water at the Ratchaprapa dam during a day trip with friends.

Divers searched the area for several days without success.

The body of Mr Scot was found floating on the water around 7.30pm on Monday night with a rescue team dispatched to recover it following the discovery.

According to police, who interviewed others on the boat, the party of American tourists visited various tourist attractions in the province, had a meal, then went boating in the dam where there dived and swam.

During a second dive Mr Scot never surfaced and the alarm was raised shortly after.

Officials from Khao Sok National Park plan to hold a meeting on Wednesday with local business owners and boat operators to ensure they strictly follow safety guidelines.

The American Embassy has been informed and the body sent for an autopsy.
