Another Pattaya Bar Facing Five Year Closure

Another Pattaya bar is facing a five year closing order for serving customers as young as 14 alcohol following a police raid in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Local licensing officials and police stormed Route 99 in central Pattaya at 4.30am following a tip-off the venue had been holding parties every Wednesday night and charging teenagers 100 baht per head entry fee.

It was soon determined the bar was operating without a business licence and open beyond the legally permitted hours.

Police said they found 75 underage customers among 300 people in the bar, the youngest only 14-years-old.

Of those under the legal drinking age, 24 tested positive for stimulants with four other customers testing positive for drugs. A small amount of crystal meth and one packet of ketamine were found discarded on the floor.

Another Pattaya Bar Facing Five Year Closure

The manager and operator, Kittipong Meeboonmak, 40, was held and charged with numerous offences.

Authorities said they will ask Chonburi governor Khomsan Ekachai to order a five-year closure for defying the National Council for Peace and Order’s restrictions on alcohol sales.
