Police are hunting for two armed robbers who attacked a British expat and his Thai wife at their Udon Thani home on Saturday night before making off with a haul worth around 200,000 baht.

John Morris, 64, was laid in bed as his wife, Juthaporn Morris, 45, took out the trash only to find two masked men laid in waiting for her, one brandishing a pistol, the other a knife.

Mrs Morris let out a scream only to be repeatedly kicked, punched in the face, have her hands tied and tape put on her mouth before the two robbers ordered her inside.

She then led the men to the upstairs bedroom where her husband was waiting on his wife.

The three men ended up in a tussle before the Brit too was tied up as the pair set about ransacking the house looking for valuables.

The pair made off with a diamond ring worth 80,000 baht, a 75k TAG Heuer watch, jewellery, a quantity of cash and mobile phones estimated at a total of 200,000 baht.

Police managed to lift fingerprints from the scene and suspect there may have been more than two involved in the robbery, speculating the men were locals and had knowledge of the couples routine.

The investigation continues.
