Police are investigating the death of a 73-year-old Dutchman who was found dead floating in the Chao Praya River early Wednesday morning.
Johannes Schreder was discovered in the river close to Samut Prakan town hall at around 6am.
National police spokesman Pol Col Krissana Pattanacharoen told reporters that there were no visible injuries on the body of Mr Schreder and the cause of death was unclear.
He added the elderly tourist arrived in Thailand on a tourist visa to meet a Thai woman he’d met online 2 months earlier.
Ms Siriporn was questioned by police who told them she’d met Mr Schreder at 10am on Tuesday and he told her he’d be returning to The Netherlands.
No further details were released by police who said they’d wait on the results of the autopsy before proceeding with the case.
