Body In The River Murder Suspect Trial Set For July

Spanish murder suspect Artur Segarra was all smiles on Wednesday morning as he arrived at the Criminal Court of Thailand in Bangkok to face charges of abduction, extortion, torture, murder and concealment of a body.

Segarra pleaded not guilty to all charges relating to the death of Spaniard David Bernat whose dismembered body was found at various locations on the Chao Phraya river in late January, early February.

Cambodian authorities captured Segarra on February 7th at guesthouse in Sihanoukville after he fled Thailand when he was recognised by customers in a Surin karaoke bar close to the home of his girlfriend where he’d been hiding out.

During questioning at the time, his girlfriend, Pridsana Seanubon, told investigators the couple had been together six months and that Segarra was responsible for kidnapping and killing Bernat before chopping him up and disposing of the body parts along the Chao Phraya river.

A trial date was set for July 11th where the court will hear evidence from prosecutors.
