Brit Attacked In Late Night Pattaya Beer Bar Brawl

Pattaya police are investigating a late-night fight at a beer bar that left a British man needing hospital treatment.

Police were called to the Made In Thailand beer bar complex in Central Pattaya at around 5am on Wednesday where they found 39-year-old Adam Shields in a bloody state.

He was patched up at the scene and ferried off to Pattaya Memorial Hospital for further treatment while his girlfriend Yupawadee Tieangtam, 32, the owner of the bar where the alleged attack took place, gave her side of the story to police.

Yupawadee told cops she recently bought the bar from a Thai man who still owned several others on the soi and that he had become jealous of her success which she claims led to the beating of her British boyfriend.

Mr Shields, according to his girlfriend, was the victim of an unprovoked attack by the former owner and two of his friends.

However, investigators are not convinced she is telling the whole tale and will check CCTV from the area and question the alleged attackers and any other eyewitnesses before coming to any conclusions.

So far over 400 Bangkok venues have been inspected to ensure fire exits and escape routes are adequate and up to standard.

With tourists starting to return, the governor said it was important to step up safety measures.
