Brit In Speeding Mercedes Kills Hua Hin Cop

A speeding Mercedes driven by a British man hit a motorbike near Hua Hin hospital, killing a policeman in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

A badly damaged Mercedes coupe with Bangkok plates was found at the scene by emergency services. A Yamaha motorbike was found about 200m away from the car with the body of 24-year-old Police Lance Corporal Wiroon Srinarong, a border patrol policeman, lying close to the bike.

According to police the Mercedes was driven by British man John Benjamin, 44, who was rushed to hospital following the crash.

In his statement to police Mr Benjamin said he was going from Cha-am towards Hua Hin at around 2.30am when the policeman made a u-turn in front of him and due to his speed it was impossible to avoid hitting the biker.
