British Bag Thief Nabbed At Suvarnabhumi Airport

A 44-year-old British man caught on CCTV stealing a bag from a temple in Chiang Mai was arrested on Thursday afternoon at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Stephen Antonio is accused of stealing a quantity of cash and valuables said to be total around 100,000 baht from the bag of a Thai tourist at Doi Suthep temple on Wednesday.

Antonio was arrested by officers from the Tourist Police division inside the terminal building and taken for questioning. He denied the charges and was later transferred to Phu Ping Ratchaniwet Police Station in Chiang Mai pending further inquiries and most likely a court appearance due to the overwhelming evidence police claim to have, including the CCTV footage.
