British Businessman Jumps To His Death From Bangkok Expressway

A British man took his own life by jumping from an elevated expressway in Bangkok on Saturday morning, according to local reports.

Emergency services were called to Ramkhamhaeng intersection at Rama 9 Road around 7.30am where they found the body of Mr Brian Shelley dead on the road covered by a sheet laid over him by local vendors.

His pickup was found parked on the Sirat Expressway where he had parked up before jumping.

Rescue volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation were said to have exercised extra precautions collecting the body due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The wife of Mr Shelley told police he was suffering severe stress lately as his business was in financial trouble.

The body was sent to the Police General Hospital’s Forensic Institute for an autopsy.

Armed Robber Makes Off With 500,000 Baht From GH Bank

A 46-year-old Thai man who held up and robbed a Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural in Bangkok earlier this week has been arrested.

The incident happened just after 2pm on Wednesday at the Bangbon branch at Soi Ekachai 86 when the man armed with a knife and a plastic gun entered the branch and hopped over the counter helping himself to half a million baht before fleeing the scene.

He was picked up after detectives followed his movements using CCTV from the surrounding area.

The robber made a full confession telling officers the gun was made of plastic, adding he’d robbed the bank to feed his gambling habits.

He was remanded in custody pending further legal proceedings.

Chiang Mai Karaoke Bar Hostess Tests Positive for COVID-19

A Thai woman who came back from Myanmar to Chiang Mai without entering state quarantine has tested positive for COVID-19, according to officials.

The 29-year old works as a hostess in a karaoke bar and may have visited several shopping malls and a cinema in the city.

The governor of Chiang Mai, Charoenrit Sanguansat, said a press conference will be held later today with a timeline of where the woman has visited.

He reminded the public to follow COVID-19 prevention measures including wearing a mask, social distancing and regular hand washing.

Researchers Discover Rare Whale Skeleton Off Thai Coast

A whale skeleton between 3,000 and 5,000 years old has been discovered 12 kilometres off the coast of Thailand just to the west of Bangkok.

The remains of the 12 meters long almost perfectly preserved skeleton is thought to be that of a Bryde’s whale, were found in early November.

The experts hope that the discovery might provide “a window into the past”, specifically for research on sea levels and biodiversity.

Pictures shared by Thailand’s environment minister Varawut Silpa-archa show the bones apparently almost entirely intact.

He said that over 80 percent of the skeleton has so far been recovered that includes ribs, vertebrae, fins, and one shoulder blade.

As per the experts, the head of the skeleton is alone estimated to be about three meters in length.
