British Pensioner In Knife Fight With His Elderly Thai Wife

A 78-year-old British expat was treated for multiple knife wounds after he became involved in a violet fight with his elderly Thai wife in the early hours of Monday at their Pattaya condo.

Police and rescue volunteers for the Sawang Boriboon Foundation were called out at around 1.30am after neighbours of the couple became concerned at the altercation taking place.

When they arrived at the condo they found blood all over, empty beer bottles and cans, a blood-stained knife and Charles Ratcliffe and his wife Wasana Karndee, 67, both with numerous slash and stab wounds.

Local media report the elderly expat has sustained multiple wounds to his face and head while his wife has multiple injuries caused by a blade to both of her hands.

Mrs Karndee told cops the couple had a heated argument during which her husband came at her with a knife. She alleged their injuries were the result of her trying to wrestle the knife out of his hand.

Both were taken to separate hospitals for treatment with police saying the investigation is still ongoing.
