Chief Suspect Arrested In Murdered Millionairess Case

The main suspect in the murder of millionaire Wannee Jiracharoenying who was found in a refrigerator at her home last Sunday in Chiang Mai has been arrested.

Withun Sitabut, 39, was captured riding a motorbike in Nakhon Sawan district by police on Thursday afternoon, according to local news reports.

The suspect was carrying 1.2 million baht in cash and 5 baht of gold jewellery.

Sitabut is accused of kidnapping and torturing 58-year-old Wannee Jiracharoenying to gain access to her bank accounts and valuables before he allegedly murdered her then stuffed her body in a fridge that he covered in concrete.

The victim, from Samut Prakan, was reported missing by her brother last Sunday after being out of contact for two weeks which led police to the house where the body was found in the fridge.

Sitabut, who lives with his wife and two children, met Wannee through his job as a van driver and over time the pair became good friends.

Police said he stole her car, withdrew money at various ATMs around the country and transfered money belonging to Ms Wannee into his wife’s bank account.
