A Colombian suspected of countless burglaries in Pattaya and Bangkok, including one at the home of the Deputy Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, was arrested on Saturday morning in Khon Kaen.

Robert Alexander Williams, 45, was apprehended along with his Thai girlfriend en route to Udon Thani after police received a tip off to his whereabouts and stopped the bus the couple were traveling on to make the arrest.

Williams confessed to being part of a gang who robbed numerous properties in Bangkok and Chonburi in 2016. The three other members are still at large.

Pol Maj-General Thanasak Ritdejpaiboon, deputy commissioner of the Provincial Police Bureau 4, said the suspect was arrested under a warrant issued by the Criminal Court on April 26 2016.

The suspect will now be transferred to Don Muang police station in Bangkok for further legal proceedings.
