Construction Of MRT Orange Line Set To Begin Monday

Work on the MRT Orange Line – latest part of Bangkok’s mass transit system – is set to get underway on Monday 10th July.

The first pile of the 22.57km section of the line will be driven into Ramkhamhaeng Road on Monday morning, with traffic disruption expected to be minimal due to the public holiday.

The 79.2 billion baht project when completed in 2023 will run from MRT Thailand Cultural Center to Suwinthawong Road.

The eastern section of the Orange Line with have a total of seventeen – 10 underground at Thailand Cultural Centre Station, MRTA Station, Wat Phra Ram 9, Ramkhamhaeng 12, Ramkhamhaeng University, Ratchamangkala, Hua Mak, Lam Salee, Sri Burapha and Ban Ma Station with a further seven elevated stations at Sammakorn, Nom Klao, Rat Phatthana, Wat Bang Peng, Kheha Ram, Min Buri and Suwinthawong.

The western section of the Orange Line is still undergoing various studies along with four other mass rapid lines set to connect the city.
