Cops Catch Up With Dutch Fugitive Hiding Out In Thailand For 10 Years

A Dutchman wanted in connection with a property scam in Europe was arrested at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Saturday as he waited to meet a friend.

According to Interpol, Olav-Wilhelmus Johannes Baartmans has been hiding out in Thailand since August 2007 with Thai police hunting him for the past two years after they were made aware he was in the country.

It is alleged Baartmans overseen a company of crooks conning people into investing in Turkish properties with promises of huge returns that never materialised.

He was arrested at around 11am on Saturday morning as he waited to meet a friend at Bangkok’s main airport and has initially been charged with visa violations.
