Cops Deny Tourist Paid 1000 Baht Bribe For Biking On The Tollway

Following a swift investigation, police have denied allegations made by a Swiss biker that he paid a 1,000 baht bribe to a traffic cop to avoid prosecution for riding his bike on the tollway.

A photo from the Facebook page “Gromance Adventures” accompanied by the blurb: “Some popo action entering Bangkok, I guess they are just jealous of my rad bike… Cost me a 1000Bath to skip the police station” went viral this week prompting police to look into the matter.

Nicklas Aittamaa was stopped by booth staff on the Don Muang Tollway earlier this month and told bikes of any size were not allowed but the biker claimed he was stopped by police and paid 1,000 to avoid going to the police station.

The head of Vibhavadi Rangsit Traffic Police Division responsible for the area denied any money changed hands as none of his officers were working in the area at the time.

The truth will likely never be known as Aittamaa has now left the country and the police investigation concluded.
