A Danish man who tried to take his own life after he slit his wrists and walked into a Pattaya reservoir in a bid to drown himself was saved by volunteers from a local rescue foundation on Sunday evening.
Local police and members of the Sawangboribul foundation were called to the Map Prachan Reservoir near the Siam Country Club at around 9.30pm on Sunday to find the Danish national, named only as Mr Michael, in the water bleeding badly from his cuts.
Locals out fishing told police they seen the Dane slash his wrists and walk into the water which is when they telephoned for help.
It took the rescue team almost an hour to get the 33-year-old man out of the water as he was distressed and not interested in being saved from taking his own life.
After the volunteers persuaded him to come out the reservoir he was then sent to Banglamung Hospital for treatment.
