Owners from 56 resorts and hotels on Ko Samet were given a deadline of February 19th to demolish all buildings encroaching on island beaches.

At a meeting held by officials on Thursday six piers were also ordered to be demolished to allow control over collection of national park fees.

New rules were also issued for fire shows, parasailing, banana boats and deckchairs on Sai Kaew-Wong Duan beach.

The clampdown on Ko Samet began last month when the military arrived in a bid to clean up the tourist island of illegally operated businesses.
