Dengue Fever

The Samut Songkram provincial health center issued a statement on Tuesday warning locals and visitors about the spread of dengue fever in the coastal city.

Of the fifty-seven patients admitted to the provincial hospital between January-May one of them, an 11-year-old girl, died. She was one of 25 primary school students affected by the disease.

A mosquito-borne disease, mild dengue fever causes a high fever and rash plus muscle and joint pain. A severe form of dengue , also called dengue hemorrhagic fever, can cause severe bleeding, a sudden drop in blood pressure and death.
