A sloshed Spanish speaking foreigner was arrested after stealing a bottle of vodka from a 7-Eleven in Lamphun in the early hours of Monday morning.
Local media report two men entered the convenience store at 3.15am and refused by staff when they attempted to purchase booze.
Described by the cashier as drunk, the pair left the shop only for one to sneak back a short time later while staff were busy filling shelves and nab an 800 baht bottle of vodka from behind the counter.
The thief was spotted as he tried to make his getaway and a quick check of the CCTV footage soon showed what he’d been up to.
Police were soon on the hunt for the pair and they were soon close to the 7-Eleven at a night market a short time later where the thief was cuffed.
Tourist police and an interpreter were called in to assist as the man had no identification on him and couldn’t communicate with officers due to the language barrier and the skinful he’d guzzled.
