Elderly Kiwi Commits Suicide On Samui

A 70-year-old New Zealander and his Thai partner were found dead at their rented home on Koh Samui on Wednesday having taken their own lives, according to police.

Police were called to a rented house in the Mae Nam area of the island after a friend of the Thai man found the two men hanging outside the house.

He told police he went to check on his work colleague after receiving a Line Message saying he wanted to die as he was stressed about debts and the poor health of his partner. When he arrived he found the bodies and that of a strangled cat.

Investigators found a notebook listing debts owed and three envelopes with names of family members on the deak of the Kiwi.

There were no0 signs of any wrongdoing or robbery.

The bodies were sent for autopsy to confirm the cause of death with police believing it was suicide.
