Facebook Launch Fake News Checker In Thailand

Facebook Thailand have announced they’ve rolled out a fake news checker to reduce the spread of misleading and inaccurate content on the platform.

The new algorithm was developed by Facebook with the AFP news agency, and certified by the International Fact-Checking Network.

The new system uses both AI and human input from AFP reporters based in the region checking and verifying news articles, images, and videos posted on the social network.

Posts found to be fake, or to have misleading titles, will have their visibility suppressed. Users will be warned when trying to share flagged content.

Pages found to be posting fake news will be suppressed in news feeds and could be terminated.
