Foodland Ban Booze Sales During Bangkok Shutdown

Foodland have posted signs in their stores on Monday stating that as part of the Bangkok shutdown order they will not be selling alcohol products between 22 March – 12 April 2020.

A photo shared via a Bangkok bartenders Line group was posted today by a member who snapped the sign at his local Foodland supermarket in the capital.

Supermarkets were allowed to remain open during the shutdown to sell essential items, however, Foodland bosses have deemed alcohol non-essential and have taped off their wines and spirit section.

Other supermarkets such as Big C have cordoned off many sections of their stores selling household items etc since the Governor’s order came into force on Sunday.

The question is will other supermarkets and 7-Eleven follow suit and restrict the sale of booze during the shutdown period?

Calls to Villa on Sukhumvit Road and Tops in Sathorn conformed both were still selling booze during the regular hours permitted.
