Four Killed In Fatal Minivan Smash

Four people were killed and three others seriously injured in a road accident on Sunday involving a minivan and a pickup in Songkhla province.

One of the victims, 19-year-old Kinnaree Khaekkarn, was burned alive after becoming trapped inside the minivan which caught fire after it ploughed head-on into the pickup truck.

The three other victims were traveling in the pickup and identified as the drivers wife, young daughter and mother-in-law.

Pol Lt Col Saravuth Jiangtem, deputy superintendent of Sabayoi district police station, told reporters the investigation into the cause of the crash was still ongoing, adding the driver of the minivan fled the scene and was being hunted down.

The pickup driver would be questioned at a later stage as he was in a state of shock having lost three members of his family in the smash.
