German Man Injured In Pattaya Elephant Attack

An elderly German man was left needing hospital treatment after being attacked by an elephant in Pattaya at the weekend.

Hans Dieter Sherding, 69, was riding his bicycle close to the Elephant Village when he came face to face with the jumbo.

Instead of following the advice of others in the vicinity to back away slowly, he instead stood up on his bike and looked at the elephant straight on.

The beast saw his actions as a threat and charged him, ramming one of its tusks into his leg leaving him with a large gash.

One of the workers at the Elephant Village told police the jumbo had run off after being washed when it met the German.
