German Man Takes His Own Life At Krabi Hotel

The death of a German man at a hotel in Krabi province has initially been ruled as suicide by investigators, according to Thai media.

Christopher Faust, 40, was found with a plastic bag over his head bound with duct tape at a luxury hotel in Ao Nang district on Tuesday afternoon.

Hotel staff became concerned for the tourist having not seen him for two days and entered the room to check on him only to find him dead.

Police said they found Mr Faust laid on the bed with a medical examiner stating he’d been dead for around 36 hours, adding there were no marks or bruising on the body and no signs of a struggle or robbery.

Another plastic bag similar to the one covering the deceased head was found on the floor.

In late May messages were posted to Facebook by concerned friends of Mr Faust saying he’d been in Thailand for a week and had gone missing. The posts said he was unwell and his family and friends back in Hannover were extremely worried about him.

His body has been sent for an autopsy to determine the actual cause of his death and his family have been informed.
