Government Unveils ‘Business Class’ Quarantine

Business Class Quarantine

Thais returning from overseas now have the option of paying for decent digs to do their mandatory quarantine instead of being put up at a government facility.

The government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) revealed on Thursday the alternative for returnees “who need more options”.

CCSA spokesman Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin said the government may not be able to continue providing free quarantine once the state of emergency was lifted and more people began arriving from other countries.

Foreign returnees with work permits and diplomats were mentioned as those who would likely be willing to pay for a quarantine upgrade

Among those who can take advantage of the option are foreign returnees with Thai work permits – mostly businesspeople and diplomats. Many are willing to pay more for the quarantine upgrade.

The government is collaborating with hotel operators and hospitals to provide the ‘Business Class’ alternative.
