Grandpa Attempts Suicide At Bangkok Mall

Police say an elderly man who jumped off the second storey of a Bangkok shopping mall was trying to commit suicide.

The unidentified 69-year-old was in critical condition at Kasemrad Hospital Bang Khae following the Monday incident at The Mall Bangkae.

Witness Kannika Kumsaed said the mall had only been open ten minutes when the senior citizen left the Oriental Princess shop, took off his shoes, put down his umbrella and climbed over the railing.

He stood still for a second before letting himself fall forward.

Pol. Capt. Saichol Gaichaiyaphum claimed the man was suffering from illness and stress, so the matter was being considered a suicide attempt. He added that his relatives were baffled, however, at the near-fatal leap.
