Guy Makes Car License Plates For 20 Years, Gets Busted For Counterfeiting

In a bid to drum up extra sales for his license plate print shop, a Bangkok businessman started posting ads on Facebook for his services only to get a surprise knock at the door from the boys in brown saying he was breaking the law and now finds himself being charged with counterfeiting.

Mr Thitikul Lertwattanarak claims he has been running his plate printing business for 20 years and had no idea that only the Land Transport Department had the right to issue car license plates.

Pol Lt-Gen Srivara Rangseepromnakul, the metropolitan police commissioner, led the raid on the five-storey shophouse in the Rong Muang area of the city and seemed pretty pleased with his days work.

All in all cops confiscated over 8,400 counterfeit license plates, five printing machines plus several molds of police and military insignias.
