2019 started on a bum note for a Frenchman who became Pattaya’s first overstay arrest of the year.

Chonburi Immigration Police spotted a shifty Keerum Luciencel Wakner turn and try to go the other way when they approached him in South Pattaya Thursday.

Taking his passport, officers discovered the frog’s passport was 200 days past its expiry date.

Wakner said he knew he was overstaying, but had been told that it was no big deal: He could just pay the 20,000 baht fine at the airport. Bad advice.

As they slapped on the cuffs, police said he’d broken a variety of laws and now will be spending time in the Immigration Detention Center until he is deported and blacklisted from Thailand for five years.
