A 37-year-old Indonesian woman was arrested at Sa Kaeo Immigration Office on Wednesday after an officer recognised her as the main suspect in a gold shop robbery in Nakhon Si Thammarat last month.
Erri Weneae was arrested on the spot and handed over to officers from Tungsong Police Station who had been hunting the woman for weeks after she was caught on camera committing the crime.
During questioning the suspect admitted to stealing 1 baht in gold on November 20 telling cops it was the first time she had stolen from a gold shop.
A quick background check revealed otherwise and showed Weneae was a serial thief and was on the Gold Traders Association blacklist.
Weneae was remanded in custody pending further legal proceedings.
