Injured Man Rescued After 48 Hours In Kanchanaburi Ravine

A man whose rescue from a deep ravine in Kanchanburi was delayed by rain finally was pulled to rescue today.

Identified only as Niphon, the hiker fell 12 meters down a hill into the gulch near the Roi Wa waterfall on Monday.

Despite rescuers finding him quickly, Niphon ended up spending two nights in the ravine as stormy weather thwarted all attempts to pull him to safely.

Finally the fog and rain lifted enough for the 60 rescuers to save the injured man, who suffered a broken leg and a bump on the head.

Soldiers from the Surasi army camp in Kanchanaburi carried him on a stretcher through the forest for two kilometres before he was airlifted to Sangkhla Buri hospital.
