Irishman Found Dead In Kanchanaburi River After Fight With Girlfriend

An Irishman who disappeared after a fight with his Thai girlfriend was found floating face down in the Kwai Noi River in Kanchanaburi.

Robort Lyttle, 51, was dressed only in black shorts when his body was pulled from the river by national park officials and rescuers using flat-bottomed boats and a jet ski.

Lyttle, of Northern Ireland, was recovered about 30 kilometres downstream from the houseboat he and girlfriend Supapansa Pornkhunthod, 35, had rented.

Supapansa told police they came from Bangkok for a holiday in Sai Yok when after midnight Monday they got into an argument. She told police she left him around 3 a.m. Tuesday and went to stay with an employee from the company renting the raft houses.

She said she returned to the room around 8 a.m. and Lytle was gone. She claimed neighbors had seen him on the balcony around daybreak.

Supapansa said she looked around a bit for her beau and, when she couldn’t find him, filed a missing person report.
