Khon Kean Bar Girl Killers Sentenced

The four defendants in the Khon Kaen bar girl murder trial were today handed sentences ranging from 23 to 33 years and ordered to pay over 1 million baht in compensation to the family of their victim, Warisara Glinjui.

Preeyanut “Preaw” Nonewangchai, 25, and Kawita “Earn” Ratchada, 26, were both sentenced to 34 years and six months in prison for collusion in the murder, illegal disposal of a corpse and robbery.

Apiwan “Jae” Sattayabundit, 29, was jailed for 33 years and nine months having been found guilty of collusion in the murder, disposal of a corpse and methamphetamine use.

Wasin Namprom, 22, was jailed for 23 years, four months and 20 days for assisting in the murder, destroying a corpse and colluding in robbery.

A fifth defendant, Jidarat Promkun, 22, was sentenced to a year in jail for handling stolen goods.

The body of 22-year-old Warisara Glinjui was discovered by farmers heading to work near a village in Khao Suan Kwang district in May 2017.

The young bargirl had been killed, cut in half and placed into plastic buckets before being buried in a shallow grave.

“Preaw”, “Earn” and “Jae” were captured several days later by Burmese police after going on the run and fleeing the country,

Preeyanuch claimed she “accidentally” killed Warisara and the death was an accident telling police she only wanted to teach her a lesson for informing them about her boyfriends drug dealing that led to his arrest and imprisonment.

All five have 30 days to appeal their sentences.
