Kiwi Olympian Working Illegally At Sukhumvit Fitness Center Arrested

A 37-year-old New Zealand man was arrested on Friday for working illegally at a fitness studio in Bangkok, according to Immigration police.

Marc Ryan, a bronze medalist at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, was taken into custody at Bangkok Get Fit cycling studio on Sukumvit Soi 26 for working without the correct visa and required work permit

The arrest came after a tipoff to police that coaches at the cycling center were working without the correct paperwork.

Ryan entered Thailand on a tourist visa and Immigration police found no application for a work permit in the system.

He was charged with working illegally and remanded at the IDC where he will be held until he appears in court before being deported and blacklisted.
