A 38-year-old South Korean man was arrested by cops yesterday on fraud charges after scamming dozens of Thai women out of millions with a bogus marriage agency website.
Lee Yong Hei was arrested on Wednesday by Chiang Mai police following an investigation into an online marriage agency he ran with his Thai wife that offered clients the chance to get married then go and work legally in South Korea or japan.
Thai media report his company charged the women 380,000 baht just for the chance to go to Seoul for marriage and work opportunities, however, dozens filed reports with police saying he vanished with their cash and got othing in return.
Hei’s wife wasn’t mentioned in the news report that stated he was wanted on a string of fraud and deception charges.
