Krabi Sex Attacker Gets His Sentenced Halved

The Thai guide who sexually assaulted a young American tourist last month in Krabi that left her with a broken spine after she fell down a mountain trying to flee the pervert has had his sentenced cut in half.

Apai Ruangwong, 28, was sentenced to 10 years behind bars for the attack on Hannah Gavios, however, due to him pleading guilty at his trial, the sentence automatically gets reduced under Thai law.

Both parties have one month to appeal the new sentence.

Miss Gavios had been visiting Krabi on a short break from her teaching job in Vietnam at the beginning of September when she was attacked by Ruangwong who offered to guide her back to her hotel over a mountain late at night after she had become lost.

When she tried to flee the perverts sexual advances the 23-year-old fell 45 metres from a trail at the top of the mountain in the Railay area leaving her seriously injured and unable to move.

As she cried for help her attacker found her and continued to sexually assault her before fleeing and calling rescue services.

She remains in a New York hospital where she is undergoing rehabilitation, learning to walk using crutches and custom leg braces.
