Loei Bound Bus Crashes Killing Driver

An early morning coach crash in Loei Province left the driver dead and eight passengers injured, according to local media.

Emergency services arrived at the scene in Phu Kradung district around 6.30am to find the overturned bus down an embankment beside the Pha Nok Khao bridge.

Eyewitnesses told police the driver appeared to lose control of the bus as it came down a steep hill before it hit and smashed through a barrier on the bridge, coming to rest on its roof.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene while the eight injured, seven women and one man, were attended to by volunteers from the Sawang Khiritham rescue foundation before being taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
