Missing Elderly Japanese Tourist Spotted Wandering Around Chiang Mai

The elderly Japanese tourist missing for three weeks in Chiang Mai has apparently been spotted by locals wandering around the city, according to his son.

Kinya Nakamura, 82, was reported missing on April 9 after he failed to return from a trekking trip in Doi Inthanon National Park.

For three weeks rescue volunteers, police, park rangers and members of the Royal Thai Air Force have been searching for the missing man without success.

However, today Nakamura’s son informed Rung Hinyawong, the head of Doi Inthanon National Park, that a driver, a street sweeper and a food vendor had all seen his father wandering around in the city.

The search team will now change tactics according to Thai news reports.
