Photo Special: The “Nana Safety Zone” Night

Published

on

Early on Friday night around 100 police officers, soldiers and city officials descended on Soi 4 for the annual “Nana Safety Zone” PR exercise. Red carpets were rolled out, asses kissed, smiles for TV and press, roses for the top cop from bargirls… in other words, a complete fucking circus that filled the street with an overwhelming stench of bullshit.

Nana Safety Zone Night

Lets have a look at the 2 hour pantomime in pictures…

It all starts with the VIPs sat down for some speeches about how safe the plods have made Nana Plaza.

(That is obviously why they don’t deploy a couple of boys in brown at the entrance every night like their counterparts at Thonglor Police District do at Soi Cowboy)

Lined up and ready to hit NP.

(Shoes polished boys? You’ve got to look good for the TV cameras)

The tables are all set up with city officials checking girls IDs and a few piss tests submitted for drug testing.

(Girls can work in a go go bar legally when they are 18 years old but cannot consume alcohol until they are 20. So what about all those tequila shots customers buy them for lady drinks? They aren’t all water)

Time for the “main man” to say hello to a few Nana Plaza patrons and check that they are having a good night.

(I wonder did he remind them prostitution is illegal in Thailand?)

Time for the closing ceremony and some roses for the bigwigs from a line-up of bargirls and service staff.

(I wonder who organised all this? Oh yes, the one who thinks they run soi 4. Sorry, I’m not naming names here)

And to round off before heading into the darkness, a few words for the TV cameras an press.

(Did he mention the farrang murder suspect who took a Rainbow 4 bar girl and chopped her up into bits is still at large? Hell no, that’s not his investigation and he certainly wouldn’t tarnish this PR exercise with such bad news.)

Nana Safety Zone Night

Time to go home and forget that Nana Plaza exists for another year. Just keep the monthly “donations” coming.

Pissed Off Passenger High On Drugs Tried To Strangle Taxi Driver

Police in Pathum Thani have arrested a 40-year-old woman high on drugs who tried to strangle a taxi driver she believed was cheating her with the strap of her handbag causing him to crash into a canal.

Ms Kanokwan ordered a cab to take her from Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi to Lam Luk Ka District, Pathum Thani.

She believed the cabbie was taking her in circles and running up the fare so she attacked him as they were crossing a bridge. During the struggle, the taxi driver bit Kanokwan’s hand to release the strap she had around his neck but lost control of the car and ended up in the water.

Kanokwan climbed out of the cab and swam to dry land where she hid in long grass.

The suspect was still hiding in the same spot when officers from Bang Bua Thong police station showed up and was soon in cuffs.

She was taken to a local hospital for a drug test where she lost control of herself again and started wrecking the place.

After a few hours in a police cell Kanokwan admitted taking drugs and attacking the taxi driver.

She was released from custody on bail pending a court appearance.

Chinese Tourists Arrive In Thailand As Country Slowly Reopens

Thailand welcomed the first group of tourists in more than seven months on Tuesday evening as a tour group from China landed in Bangkok.

Tourism chiefs welcomed the holidaymakers from mainland China before their luggage were disinfected and loaded onto a bus at the Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Chinese Tourists Arrive In Thailand As Country Slowly Reopens

Thailand has recorded just a handful of local COVID-19 transmissions in more than four months and ministers are desperate to boost the tourism-dependent economy after banning international arrivals on March 22 this year.

They said that the Chinese tourists who arrived were deemed ”very low risk” after coming from a region of the country that is free of the coronavirus.

Thailand imposed strict restrictions at the start of the corona crisis and has avoided the virus taking hold.

However, the country’s tourism reliant economy accounting for up to 20 per cent of GDP has been shattered – shrinking at its deepest pace since the 1998 Asian financial crisis.
